My opinion on the changes is that, all these modifications to the pattern are good, except the 60% criteria. Simply because, if you are putting a 60% criteria, why not go all the way and make admissions on the basis of 12th marks. Besides, I'm sure I can find a few people with less than 60% in boards who went through JEE.
PS If I had a penny for all my thoughts, I'll be a millionaire.

First of all one cannot go all the way and base admisions on school results entirely because India has many different school systems with different standards that cannot be equated.
Giving some consideration to school results is good because high school students had begun to ignore their school studies under influence of propoganda from commercial coaching centers. Their role would now be somewhat reduced.
